Nice is privileged to be at the crossroads between the Alps, the Provence region, Corsica and Italy.
At the heart of the French Riviera, the city occupies a truly remarkable natural site, having grown over the centuries around the large bay of the Mediterranean sea to the South with a succession of wooded hills from East to West.
In the background the first alpine summits can be seen, some of which reach over 3000 metres in altitude, although only 50 km from the coast in direct line.
